It's common knowledge that many, if not most, congressfolk become multi- millionaires, one way or another. I'm sure most of the ways are perfectly legal, congress being the ones who make laws about what is legal and what isn't. Legalized bribery is what it amounts to, but the key word is legalized.

AOC claims she isn't making a dime other than her salary:

Maybe she's telling the truth. I'm skeptical. I'm guessing some family member is getting something on the side. Likely perfectly legal "consulting fees" for something. Maybe her uncle is an expert on Ukrainian energy.

But, what about you? Would you be content with your salary, knowing all the extra expenses of being a congressman would likely eat it up, and then after a couple of terms, take a job that you can start putting away for retirement?

Would you use your former position after you serve to make money, as a lobbiest, or writing a book?

I would and could I never cared for fancy things. As expensive as things are in D.C. area It would be spartan living. As far as after serving than I would need to look for income.

I live off of $16.00 an hour, and have done for 10 years.
I could absolutely live off a Congressmans salary.

AOC’s possible corruption is a concern to MAGA, but Trump’s meme coins are nothing to worry about?!

I used AOC as an example of a congresperson who does not appear to be corrupt.

On most political forums that I have posted on, there have been a handful of lefties who had some logic and could actually carry on a debate, even though I disagreed with them.

I'm not seeing this on this board at all. But maybe it is because I came on during the age of Trump Derangement.

There is the corruption scam, kickback into secret accounts, insider trading (while using GOVT offices), then there is this business of working the phones all day long for donations. Such as the Beast or JoeCamel racking up Billions or Bernie racking ip $500million. They then hire friends and family at $440K as consultants or Bernies wife as media consultant, money funneled right back to joint.

The donation corruption seems to be the legal part? What if they lose and don’t spend it all? Did Bernie walk off with $100million or joeKamel with 1/2 biilion?

AOC is most certainly in on that part, but maybe so dumb she does not yet understand the illegalities or the dirty appearance it shows? Look at the gaggle of young bimbo following her about everywhere. Like a HS clique of Valley girl level dumb and dumber rolling in millions all around them.//

I would consider those living on less than $30 per hour and direct all legislation to ensure their well being. Neither the demoRATS nor the ReTHUGlicans would support that though. Pathetic.

Nothing compared to Trump’s corruption.

Thats another reason why we need Trump in the White House.

It's the sole reason why folk become politicians in every country, to rob the taxpayer to enrich themselves.

It can be a struggle for members who have to maintain two residences, especially the further away from DC they come from and have to pay to fly back and forth home or bring their families to DC. The north-south corridor out of DC allows for more travel options, but not so much when they need to go west. People don't live in a vacuum. Plus, I know its shocking to some, but some members actually do want to spend time in their districts meeting with constituents, attending community events, etc.
