IF Electric cars are so wonderful, why must the US pay drivers to buy them?

5 people testified to Congress about owing electric cars in the following video of the Senate.
Trying to get them to explain why drivers must be paid to drive electric vehicles if they are so good was troubling to say the least.

Who drives an electric car and did you get paid by the Feds to buy yours?

Products that consumers don't want are subsidized by government. Thanks advocacy groups!

I like that guy. He sounds like he has more of a clue, than our Senators from Tennessee.

I see that you are still allowing morons to start threads. Bad policy.
Oh, by all means, you are still welcome. I see you haven't started a thread since Feb 25, 2025.
I'm not a big electric car supporter, myself. They simply are not that popular in Tennessee, but that will probably change when the Ford plant get going, between here and Memphis. I still doubt there will be one in my future.

I ride an electric bike. I built it myself because I do not trust any ebikes on the market. Specifically, I don't trust their battery packs or battery management systems.

Because Americans don't have any money, and they are more expensive than an ICE vehicle with the same features.

My stepson also has an electric bike but I don't think he rides it again. It was his 2nd so far. He gave away his first to his stepson.

Well, the answer is obvious why they pay people to buy EV cars---

Because by artificially lowering the cost, you broaden the incentive for more people to buy them!
By that they are hoping that as more EVs are sold, prices will come down to where they are competitive with ICE cars.

Did you post the same thing back in the early 2000s when tax incentives were offered on Hummers?

Why did we have to pay for people to drive them?

Also, you video is a joke.

You needed someone else to tell you how prices work? Weird.

I guess we can flush this thread, now, since it is now useless.
You don't like people agreeing with your post!!! My gosh, stop saying things I agree with then.

What were the incentives in the early 2000s?
Apparently you don't own an EV or you would have defended them.
