How did the capital police determine that their lives were not at risk?

On Jan 6, 2021, 140 police officers suffered injuries, some very serious. However, based on the fact that only one protester was shot, one can assume that none believed that their lives were threaten enough to defend themselves using deadly force. Strange eh, especially in the light of the killing of a protester in Minneapolis.

No cops were killed, so apparently their lives werent in danger. :dunno:

No. No civilians were killed (except Ashli Babbit) which indicates that the capital police weren't in mortal danger.
