If we took the entire world's nuclear arsenal and set it off in the ocean, how big of a tidal wave could we make? I read somewhere that the world's combined nuclear payload is 7 Gigatons.
Here is a video of an underwater explosion in 1946. I believe the bomb in 1946 was a smaller A-bomb and the bomb was only 27 meters below the surface, so most of the explosion went into the air. It produced a 2 meter wave. In 1954, larger bombs were later set off and profuced waves that destroyed test ships nearby.
