This is the first real test for Arch Manning, playing a team as good as Ohio State.

Is he up to the task? He has a completely new OL in front of him, a "variable" for sure...

Ohio State has a First Rounder in Downs at S, but last year the Buckeye CBs were "worst in a decade." I suspect they have fixed that.

I've been a "bear" on Arch Manning all along. Picking Ohio State and a quick end to the Arch Manning hype...

Opening up with a game like that puts a lot more urgency on training camp. The pressure is on right out of the gate. I'm giving the Bucks the edge based on their being at home and Manning's still unproven passing ability. Manning can run, he has the breeding and probably the football IQ, but in my opinion, he didn't throw a nice ball last year. Too many wounded ducks. There will definitely be a lot of talent on the field but I'm taking the Bucks. There's a chance that they will meet again later in the playoffs and this could be one of those matchups where the team that wins the first one could lose the second one.

Can that be "corrected?"

Or is it just the reality, that Arch Manning does not have a "Manning arm."

That is the question. It'll be a lot different being the starter, that's for sure. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how he responds. He definitely has a lot of talent to work with on that team. Another thing, I might be a little prejudiced against imitation cowboys who wear yellow and pastel colored cowboy hats like they do in Austin.

The Horns are classic college football, gotta love Bevo!!!

And they are the only top team with a big time losing record to VANDY!!!! 4-8-1

Well, predictions are in. Horns have talent but OL takes time to "get it together" and the Horns OL is all new this year.

I think Arch gets exposed as human...

tOSU will win, they are at home and are an exceedingly good team. Even if Manning completely shits the bed, this single game will not define his career at Texas. It won't be a bell weather for his career regardless of how he plays good or bad either.

Ohio State’s QB has no more experience as a starter in big games than Manning has

Both teams have top defenses and about the same number of future NFL players

I hope Texas wins but it could go either way

OSU has the best WR in college football. He’s probably better than all but 2-3 of the WRs currently in the NFL. Dudes a freak.

He only had one catch for 3 yards last year

He’s good but not superhuman

He is Archie's grandson, son of "other son" not Peyton or Eli.
He has talent though, huh?
Knowing how to scramble in the pocket goes a long ways. The footwork, all of it.

Wellllllll................

That's part of the debate. Is he really the next #1 overall Draft pick, or ....

he went to an elite prep school that recruits football talent from all over the country. He put up big numbers there. There were questions about his arm strength and accuracy.

Watch these throws from last year CLOSELY.... are they really "great throws" or not....

When Texas and OSU played last year Smith had only one catch for 3 yards
So. OH NOES he had 1 bad game. He must not be good....

Do you have any idea how many games Jerry Rice had with under 30 yds at his peak? It's like you people have never watched or played sports.

You are more argumentative than informed

Yet you think you know it all

I know both teams are very good and the game could go either way

The idea that Jeremiah Smith is not the best WR in college football is laughable. He likely would have gone #2 in last years draft as a Freshman. The guy is the best player in college football.

Everyone seems to agree with me though apparently Im just uninformed. Can you find anyone who doesnt think Smith is the best player in college football let alone the best WR in college football?

I never said he was or wasnt

But its a team sport

Texas shut Smith down last year

And it could happen again
