back in the day and not sure about now:

you had the jocks who played sports
you had the nerds, skinny kids with glasses, smart but socially awkward
you had the rich preppies who had to have the best cloths as if they were in a fashion show
then you had the fringe goths who worshiped the cult [band]
and then the ones who did not fit into any of those categories

best chance the jocks and nerds went onto fame and fortune

preps likely too unless they got into drugs and burned out when dads money ran out
goths, eh maybe some artist to various degrees of fortune

the others, just workers at walmart or maybe some mill

sound about right to what you remember?

Oh I wish I could relate to you my high school days, but you probably would not believe it.
I only went to 8th grade for 84 days as I recall. I did not like public school.
I still graduated with an A- grade average.
I went to high school for 16 days as I recall and dropped out. It was really lame.
They tried putting me in the senior science class and they had a planetarium, but it was death warmed over.
Incredibly boring. Like a room of zombies.
I finally went to a private school and it was the best days of my life, I just wish I realized then
just how precious those days were, they were unlike any school days you can even imagine nor likely ever believe.

I didn't fit into any category. I was from the wrong side of the tracks ,but smart. I was skinny with glasses but would give the J.V and Senior Varsity good competition in Gym class. I was put in Advanced classes but made average grades there. I enjoyed learning and the girls :) . Not fitting in anywhere I was shunned by most staff and students, except some what by the Alpha girls who some I found out described me as a serious flirt. Overall it was a good part of my life.

Not really. Most at my school failed to make it anywhere. Not surprising as we had another school nearby (10 miles away) that took most of the smarter students.

I don't know what happened to most, but two died, one of suicide, the other a firefighter in a warehouse which dropped on his head, that was from my grade, had another suicide in my sister's year and a guy who died in a farming accident.

One I have on Facebook was an alcoholic, now seems to be half religion, but still not very smart, not very rich.

Another I have married a Russia and they seem to be successful, but then we wondered what he was doing at that school.

One in my sister's grade got put there because she turned up in our area very late and couldn't get into the good school.

My school was failing for half the time I was there, the teachers were mostly jokes who couldn't teach. Bullying was rife.
