I think the reason why people were wary of it, was because tests hadn't been carried out on it. Then all of a sudden people like Trump started telling people to take it, and it became cult like, and people got worried about people believing it was some kind of miracle drug, when it had limited possibilities for helping patients to deal with the impact of having the coronavirus.
