Here is a poem I wrote many years ago that qualifies as Political Satire these days
Have I earned one more tomorrow
Is anyone happier because you passed their way?
Does anyone remember you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over, and toiling time is through,
Is there anyone to utter a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting
When the day has gone so fast,
That you helped a single person,
Of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing,
Over what you did, or to them said?
Does the one whose hopes were fading,
With your help begin to look ahead?
Did you waste the day or use it?
Was it well or wisely spent?
Did you blaze a trail of kindness?
Or leave a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber.
Do you believe that God will say,
"You have earned one more tomorrow,
By what you did this very day"?
This board is certainly full of people that should be asking themselves that question!
