When I use the link it just seems to offer a link, not embed the video.

Try clipping the "www." out of the link leaving just the "http://" and leave it "naked," meaning, don't wrap any BB tags around it at all. The system will know what you're trying to do and will install proper code automatically. And keep in mind, the board only embeds videos FROM youtube, not any other site.

Alternatively, wrap the YouTube link in the proper BB code tags, like this

[youtube]youryoutubelink[/youtube]

And you have this!

For some reason, some browsers have trouble with that. But I suspect what the OP was doing was clicking the "insert link" button in the editor here, then pasting or typing the YT link in there.... Not realizing that puts the BB tag on the link, and hence, it posts as a link instead of the embed.

Hmmmm ... always used the "Share" button and the link there to copy. Guess I have to change what I "always used to do".

Hmm, seems to work for me. I just right click on the address board, come back to USMB and copy into the reply box, the system does the rest.

The share button no longer has this in it: /watch?v=hTMrlHHVx8A

Which is a Youtube change from the past. The link in addressbar and the share link used to be identical. Guess they are trying to limit bandwidth, by limiting the embeds.
