I played there as part of a Central American Caribbean tour in 1993. At the time it reminded me of Miami in the mid-1970s. I really liked it. But don't go in August. It's one of two places I've played where the temperature was over 100 degrees every day. The other was Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. And it's a brutal, humid heat, as the Atlantic and Pacific meet. I'm talking walk out of the hotel and within 10 steps your shirt is wet. You can actually feel your pores open.

Open air casinos are nice, there's a large US military presence, between Rodman Naval and Howard AFB, but that may no longer be the case. The canal operations are a marvel to witness. And I got to swim in the two oceans simultaneously, which is unique. I don't know if I would like to live there, though.
