Five (four not counting the perp) people have been killed after a knife-wielding attacker went on a rampage in a residential street in Gig Harbor, Washington, on Tuesday morning before being shot dead by police.
The 32-year-old launched the stabbing spree on a quiet cul-de-sac in the affluent waterfront community, about 45 miles from Seattle.
Three victims died at the scene on 87th Avenue Court NW, while another was rushed to hospital before later succumbing to their injuries.
The suspect was fatally shot at around 9.33am local time, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators have not yet confirmed the relationship between the attacker and the victims.
Deputies were first called to the property at approximately 8.45am after reports that a no-contact order was being breached.
Witnesses said at least one victim was attacked in the middle of the road as horrified bystanders looked on.
Court documents connected to the address where the incident occurred reveal that a mother had sought legal protection from her adult son in April 2025, with the order being granted the following month.
The son (32 years old), who suffers from a mental health disorder, had physically pushed and made threats against his mother on previous occasions.
The mother also accused him of damaging her belongings, injuring her cat, filming her within the home, and engaging in what she described as occult rituals on the premises.
