A father accused of killing the man who allegedly kidnapped and raped his teenage daughter, and who’s still awaiting trial for the murder, won the Republican primary election for county sheriff in Arkansas, multiple outlets reported.
Aaron Spencer secured 53.5% of the vote in the Tuesday, March 3, Republican primary for Lonoke County sheriff, according to preliminary election results. Spencer, 37, will face Democratic primary winner Brian Mitchell Sr. in the fall general election, according to the Arkansas Advocate.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the people of Lonoke County for placing their trust in me. Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign, worked hard, and showed up to vote,” Spencer told KATV on Wednesday, March 4.
