Yes, the modern charismatic politician tells people there's a problem and tells them only they can fix the problem. They often don't give concrete solutions, and when they do their solutions are lies based on telling their supporters the same thing repeatedly until they believe their lie.

The British got conned with Brexit. Told it'd save them money. It did, but it lost them FAR, FAR MORE. Which means they didn't save money

Trump does the same. He told the people he'd stop the Ukraine War after a day, he told them only he could get a prisoner out of Russia, but Biden did it, he told everyone he defeated ISIS, which is total bullshit.... the list is endless. But they want to believe.
