ECB raises eurozone interest rates as Iran war stokes inflation

European Central Bank increases main deposit rate to 2.25%, with two further rises expected by next spring

and even more important, inflation in Europe is presently at 2.8% and expected to rise to 3%.

What is worse is that the inflation report that came out yesterday about us, shows that OUR inflation is now 4.2%. In other words, our inflation is higher than in Europe

AI Overview

U.S. inflation reached an annual rate of 4.2% in May, up from 3.8% in April, marking its highest level in three years. This steady acceleration has been primarily driven by surging energy and gasoline costs caused by the ongoing war with Iran.

In simple words, Trump is not only not keeping the promise he made about lowering inflation, but he is actually causing worse inflation that seen in other places.

As long as the Trump Administration continues to Yank Funding from corrupt Democrat programs designed to enrich corrupt Democrats ....I can look the other way on some of his minor shortfalls.

It's a necessary and acceptable trade off....as long as the yanking is real.
Tax and spend is an irresponsible political strategy that causes real and long term damage which will always be painful to correct.

The Trump Administration’s Rampant Pay-to-Play Corruption Threatens Our Democracy

  • The Trump administration has exchanged government benefits, appointments, pardons, and policy decisions for financial contributions from wealthy individuals, corporations, and foreign governments, creating an unprecedented pay‑to‑play culture.
  • These transactions—ranging from donor‑driven federal appointments to dropped investigations, lucrative business deals, and foreign gifts—have enriched Trump and his allies while undermining long‑standing ethical norms and public trust in democratic institutions.

I'm seeing those republican(?) donors also giving to the democrats, and probably more.

The stupidity of voting for Trump.

I remember exactly what the leftists said when inflation was high in the US under Biden and the Democrats - "But look at the inflation in Europe and you'll see what a great Job Biden is doing compared to them".

Well, if you look at the US inflation rate under Trump compared to Europe you'll see what a great job Trump is doing.

Do you EVER do research? Or worse, do you EVER acknowledge when you are wrong?

What? That's exactly what I said! Democrats all said the Biden was doing a great job because US inflation was lower than Europe. And, so they must say the very same now, right? Since US inflation is lower under Trump than inflation in Europe, doesn't that mean that Trump's doing a great job?

Did you actually read my OP?

Inflation in Europe is presently at 2.8% and expected to climb to 3%

Inflation in the U.S. is presently 4.2% and expected to keep climbing.

Where did you get the idea that inflation is lower under Trump than inflation in Europe?

You do understand that 4.2% is higher than 2.8%, don't you??????

Remember when Hillary lost to a rookie politician and donations to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation dried up?

That was awesome!

Same logic with deficits. A deficit with a Democrat in charge means the country is doomed. A deficit with a Republican in charge is good and absolutely necessary. Republicans love creating deficits to provide tax cuts for the wealthy, but if it's for the common good then deficits are bad.

Yes, a lot less than Biden's 9%.

that 9% was due to a perfect storm of unprecedented consumer demand, pandemic-crippled supply chains, and severe global commodity shocks.
It was also found the inflation reduction act did not contribute, but other stimulus to consumer demand.
For over a year? Yeah, ride that dead horse all the way into the ground.
