july 11 2025 For those in Northern California who lit up the sky on the Fourth of July with banned fireworks, modern technology may soon make itself known because law enforcement was employing drones to monitor “known hotspots for illegal activity,” according to Fox 40 Sacramento.

According to the outlet, alleged violators who think they got away with it “despite stern warnings from law enforcement about fines and even possible jail time,” may be in for a surprise when “hefty citations [show] up in their mailboxes over the next few weeks.”
“A lot of people are going to be wildly surprised when they get massive fines in the mail,” Captain Justin Sylvia of the Sacramento Fire Department told Fox 40.

“If you think you got away with it, you probably didn’t,” Sylvia said. “What may have been a $1,000 fine for one occurrence last year could now be $30,000 because you lit off so many.”

Turns out, homeowners will be held responsible for any illegal fireworks being used on their property. “Fines are mailed to the homeowner, regardless of who lit the fireworks,” the affiliate reported. “Because of the Social Host Ordinance in Sacramento, the homeowner is responsible for all activities that happen on their premise.

Yeah I grew up with family cookouts on the 4th of July and it wasn't The real McCoy if there wasn't some kind of fireworks. The problem is the idiots who get into the military grade shit.
