WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — As community organizations work to prevent gun violence in the DMV, local groups are figuring out what to do next after the Department of Justice (DOJ) canceled hundreds of grants totaling millions.

These grants help fund government and community organizations working not just to prevent gun violence, but also to provide other resources such as addiction services and crime victim advocacy programs.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has called some of these grants wasteful spending.

"The Department of Justice has started cutting millions of dollars in wasteful grants," Bondi posted to X on April 23, including "some of the greatest hits."

One of the community groups impacted is Guns Down Friday. Jawanna Hardy, known to the community as Miss Hardy, started the group in 2018 with her daughter after witnessing violence in her community.

“We are contracted with a lot of the organizations that help with these programs that we run,” explained Hardy.

She’s facing about $75,000 in cuts.

What Trump has finally revealed is that the left isn't at all a grassroots movement.

It's a Potemkin village created by elites with grafted money, and populated with those willing to be their puppets.

The left is all astroturf.
