During the summer in Washington, D.C (I was station in D.C from 1974-1977)., I would attend the ceremony held the United StIwo ates Marine Corps at the Iwo Jima Memorial. The Marine Corps Band and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team would pefform. It truly amazing. You could tell who the Active Duty and Retired Miltary were, we put our hands over our heart as the Anthem was played and when the Marine Corps Color trooped the flags.
