Did the Lions just give the league a blueprint on how to contain Lamar Jackson?

I heard this morning that the Lions were rushing 3 and using 2 linebackers basically as spies on Lamar. That doesn't seem like a formula that would work but they sacked him 7 times and held him down on rushing as well. I'm wondering if they just have super fast linebackers or if this scheme would work on other teams.

Anyone can have a plan, the question is do other teams have the talent to execute it.

Detroit did.

It helps when you have an offense that can score 38 points.

The Ravens still put up 30 points. I wouldn't consider that holding them back.

Jackson truly was box'd in! I still can't believe that Goal Line 4th down, the Lions halted Jackson even from a throw! Very impressive effort even giving up 30 pts.! :omg::stir::p

It seems like even when a team dedicates someone to Lamar, he still gets away from them. He was running all over us in the beginning. Suddenly it stopped.

Also, Aiden Hutchinson seemed to get his mojo back last night.

OMG I thought for sure we were going to lose that game.

The game was basically over when the Lions went on 96 and 98 yard touchdown drives. Those 2 drives chewed up over a quarter of the game.

Did you see the game? It seemed like they were scoring easy on us, we were scoring too but it was harder for us to score points. But then suddenly a couple big plays and we are up 7. But then we blew it and let them tie it up at the half. That's when I was sure we were going to lose.

Then we scored a couple times and they didn't. Or we scored 7 and they only scored 3.

Put it this way. We stopped them when we needed to. And we picked up 1st downs on all our 4th downs. It helps when you don't punt on 4th down. Gives you an extra down.

Here's an example of holding them back Ravens running back Derrick Henry was notably held to a low 50 yards on 12 carries

That had to be the plan. Keep Lamar on the sidelines. Keep Henry on the sidelines.
bobo how far do you think the Tigers will get?....they sucked coming down the stretch ...5-13 this month....Clev might retake their place...

The Lions rushed for 220 yards, Ravens about 80 yards total. Lamar kept it close because he's Lamar but dude that was a pretty dominating win considering it was on Raven's home field.

Don't get me wrong, they played about as good of defense as you can play against Jackson and the Ravens.

As a Detroit sports fan we rarely think our team has what it takes to win it all. Even if they didn't suck the 2nd half of the season, I would still say no way they are going to beat the Dodgers.

Dude! We were like 6 games up with 6 games to go and now we are only 1 game ahead of Cleveland? I don't even think we are going to make the playoffs

The Detroit Tigers have 3 games left in their 2025 season, which are against the Cleveland Guardians. The Tigers are currently in a tiebreaker situation for the AL Wild Card, which will be decided against the Guardians, who they also have a tiebreaker with in the season series.
These games are critical for playoff contention, as the Tigers' playoff hopes, including their position in the AL Wild Card, will be decided in this series.

I don't pay attn. to MLB much at all these days, but hearing this "so called" collapse is reminiscent of my 2005 Chicago White Sox! They had a 14 1/2 game lead over the Indians approaching the playoffs! It wasn't really about the Sox dropping their lead due to losing as much as the Indians started playing near perfect ball & got it to just 1 1/2 games, fallng short of overtaking Chicago in the Central that yr.! The Sox then went on a tear, destroying the AL, then squashing Houston & Clemons in the World Series! :dunno:  :stir: :p

Yes, the best defense is great offense.

Statistically speaking, the team who has the ball the longest typically wins. It makes sense. If you are on offense more than the other team, that must be good for your team right?

Now it could take us 10 minutes to score each TD and only take them 2 minutes and at the end of the game, we could lose even though we had the ball more. That could happen. But USUALLY, the team who is on O the most wins.

What's one way to stop the Raven's from scoring 35 points? Don't let them have the ball 7 times. You can't score 35 points if you aren't on offense 7 times.

It could also throw them out of rhythm. For Lamar to have to sit there and wait, wait wait to go back out on the field. I have to believe Detroit broke their offensive rhythm last night.
