Andrew Cuomo should not run in the general election for Mayor of New York City. I am not from New York City but New York is unique it is a national treasure no city in America has the vibrancy and offerings that New York has so in a sense it is fair for any American to comment on the Mayor election for this great City. If Andrew runs he will split the nonprogressive and nonsocialists vote with the current Mayor Eric Adams and thus give the progressive/socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani the win. Zohran isn't a bad guy but he has pronounced and extreme socialist views which will result in higher taxes for the wealthy and corporations in New York leading to an exodus of these valuable groups in New York city. New York city is unique and extraordinary because of the wealth of individuals and corporations that reside in the City these block of vested parties start to leave en masse and the City of New York deteriorates and dramatically.
Andrew has too much baggage to win the General Election not only the sexual harassment tag but also because so many establishment Democrats across the country called for him to step down as Governor for this character issue and now their fired-up cheer leaders for the guy it gives the impression that politics is too transactional where is the good character and virtue, it really turns people off. The sexual harassment tag is unfair Andrew's behavior was actually just unprofessional and a throwback to the 20th century where the subject of romance was not a hard off-limits subject in the workplace, but the reality in our country today is that such a label is a political death sentence fairness doesn't permeate that issue in America today, what happened to former Senator Al Franken makes the point crystal clearly. In the primary New York voters told Andrew that these issues in his past matter this liability isn't going away for Andrew. Andrew Cuomo needs to put the interests of the City, his state and the country above his personal ambition. Andrew needs to accept his reality that his political career is over he had a remarkable career as Attorney General and Governor but now it is over; Andrew has an extraordinary gift as a communicator and he has a shot and I think would do a great job as a cabinet official or Chief of Staff in a Democratic Presidential administration but running for significant elected office Andrew has no future in that area! If Andrew stays in and Mamdani wins and implements his dramatic tax and spend agenda Andrew's reputation will take an humongous hit and he will regret it truly big-time for the rest of his life!
