In 1963, Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova went into space alone and spent three days there. Someone please tell those ladies from Bezo's thrill ride they were not breaking any new ground.

Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova (born 6 March 1937) is a Russian engineer, member of the State Duma, and former Soviet cosmonaut.

She was the first woman in space, having flown a solo mission on Vostok 6 on 16 June 1963. She orbited the Earth 48 times, spent almost three days in space, is the only woman to have been on a solo space mission and is the last surviving Vostok programme cosmonaut.

Twenty-six years old at the time of her spaceflight, she remains the youngest woman to have flown in space under the international definition of 100 km altitude, and the youngest woman to fly in Earth orbit.

One brave lady, being at the edge of space travel with little knowledge of what might happen to her in the outer space environment. :)👍

Not to mention all the US female astronauts that have gone up.

Only thing I can say about this is that getting strapped into a capsule on the top of a missile that may blow up takes guts.

But I suspect they may have faked this launch.

At any rate.....there was zero evidence that they left the atmosphere, because there was no re-entry burns on the capsule when it "landed" in the desert.

Has anyone seen the actual landing from start to finish, or did we just see the capsule shoot out dust clouds just to make it look like it landed?

I saw the landing of the two stranded astronauts last month, but I haven't seen the same from this one.

Well, it was a woman so maybe while she was waiting, she cleaned the unsightly burn marks off. ;)

Actually the civilian babes in Bezo's thrill ride were breaking new ground. Why do old Russians get top billing?
