Yeah, it's no secret. The purpose of speed traps is to generate revenue. The Police Dept does not work in a political vacuum. The question is whether the people in the jurisdiction are stupid or angry or not paying attention or they authorize the abuse.

Don't count on it. The problem is that they really are guilty and they will get 30 days in jail if they go for a trial. The problem is whether the citizens are aware or if they care. Like the Military the Police work for the people.

You don't get 30 days in jail for a traffic ticket. It's the time and cost of a trial that dissuade most people. It's easier to pay the fine.

They won't go through with a Trial, they'll just dismiss the ticket because it costs too much for them to conduct it. Especially if everyone demands one.
