Not starting funding would have been not doing enough.
China should have... or should now be held accountable for denying what happened when they silenced
their own scientists and kept flights open from Wuhan China even while they were shutting down travel internally.
Given that along side their aggressive nature with Hong Kong and Taiwan now, and how they are flexing their muscle around the world by taking up resources, this should be a very troubling sign for the civilized world.
Yes, what happened in January, when they were literally threatening other countries with problems if they stopped accepting Chinese flights full of coronavirus victims.... China has a certain way of dealing with things, mostly it's about saving face and making sure your career doesn't suffer.
It often doesn't work.
For example, right now, Wechat is saying "don't advertise tobacco products on their platform". You'd think "right, the government is cracking down on smoking", but no, the govt OWNS all the tobacco companies, it keeps the prices really low, and half of all males smoke, and they smoke where they like, when they like and the amount of passive smoking is huge. They clamped down on e-cigarettes, claiming HEALTH ISSUES. And yet, cigarettes are far, FAR worse than anything proven for e-cigarettes.
The govt was merely worried private companies would take away from their revenue stream. And it seems like the advertising ban is not to protect people's health, but to stop people selling tobacco produces, when govt run shops, or govt licensed shops will suffer.
China is very good at playing it like this, especially when they can crack down on anyone who speaks out against this tactic.
