Censorship is really bad. I know my friends on the Left really hate censorship.
1. Like the censorship of a sitting President from a social media platform. (Trump banned from Twitter).
2. Like the suppression and censorship of a major news story in the middle of a Presidential Election (Hunter Biden Laptop)
3. Like the censorship of the ineffectiveness of the Covid vaccine and its side effects.
4. Like the censorship of criticism of Fauci.
5. Like the censorship of alternative treatments for Covid (ivermectin).
6. Like the censorship and suppression of Right leaning voices from major media for decades.
7. Like the censorship on the origins of Covid.
Yep. Censorship is bad. Discuss.
1. Private company banning based off guidelines of use. I don't think he should have been banned, because he was the President of the United States. But then again, this was during a time where he was literally trying to overthrow the Democratic process to remain president....
2. Firstly, Trump was President when this story emerged. The Biden campaign flagged explicit, non-consensual sexual photos of Hunter Biden that were circulating -- basically revenge porn. At the same time, the FBI warned media companies to be cautious about potential Russian hack and leak ops. Twitter blocked it, before unblocking it and admitting it was a mistake to block it. Facebook reduced distribution while it was reviewed for accuraccy. What I don't get regarding this is why, after being so critical of some of the suspicions about what Hunter Biden has done, why you are all completely OK with Trump launching a meme coin the day before his inaguation? It's a way for people to send him money in a more annonymous way. And this isn't the Presidents son doing this, this is the President himself. Not only does his memecoin syphon money from the pockets of his supporters to himself, it's a way for people to bribe him? Maybe you haven't heard about this as a form of corruption yet since it is completely new and being normalized by the Trump administration. But I assure you, the first time a democrat utilizes this form of corruption, you will hear about it from your media, and you will be outraged that a democrat would do that. But remember, it was Trump that introduced this form of corruption.
3, 4, 5, 7: Facebook was pressured to remove disinformation regarding the covid vacine from the white house. I don't personally agree that they should have done this. But I can see and understand their reasoning, and it's clearly not an attack on democracy. The fact that so many people are anti-vax (mRNA vax), or believe that Ivermectin was a legit alternative is proof of the power of misinformation.
At the time this was happening there were a couple of things I found that highlighted just how wrong the pro-ivermectin and 'vaccine causing deaths' positions were.
The following is a great listen (although long) throughly debunking one of the more referenced studies that supposedly showed Ivermectin was an effective alternative treatment:
They basically made up the data. Science works as it's supposed to. No single study should be taken as gospel, and anything that gets highlighted as something people are basing their views off can be investigated and reviewed by other scientists in that field. And to mention the guys on this episode are people that were doing this as a hobby long before Covid 19. They have called out many poorly done scientific studies, and even they say this one was the worst they've seen. Science loves to argue against science. This idea that they are all just lying couldn't be further from the truth.
Another misconception that a lot of anti-mRNA vaxxer influencers used was to try and class deaths from Covid as Covid vaccine deaths. What happened when the vaccine was first rolled out, was that people got vaccinated and then sometime shortly after, countries started opening back up more, as they had been locked down for sometime. As you would expect, deaths started to rise due to covid during this time. Idiots or malicious individuals used this rise in deaths to say it was the covid vaccine causing them. The great thing about this, is that, unlike other countries, New Zealand did not open back up after administrating the covid vaccine to like 95+% of the population. Based on other countries, we knew that covid will cause excess deaths when it spreads around the population.
These were the total death counts in New Zealand over that relevant period:
total deaths in new Zealand over recent years:
2017: 33,339
2018: 33,225
2019: 34,260
2020: 32,613
2021: 34,932
I've never had anyone who believes that covid vaccine causes deaths be able to refute this. I've had people say things like they must have had a good batch, or that New Zealand is hiding the deaths....
Other countries had the vaccine, opened up, and experienced an increase in excess deaths. New Zealand had 95% 2 doses population, stayed locked down, and did not have any excess deaths.
Again, this is one of those things where republicans are going against the science. If we are going to say that the scientists are all wrong, or that they are corrupt, then that's a dangerous position to take, and it potentially sets back the advancements we could have from scientific research back decades. We should be looking to science, not going against everything they say unless we have good evidence that what they are saying is actually wrong.
Meanwhile, Trump is directly attacking the press, and constantly accusing them of being an 'enemy of the American people'. A free press is a cornerstone of a free democracy.
