We know that Dexter Manley played football for OK St., but never went to class, in part because he could not read. He entered OKST unable to read, and after 4 years of being a "student athlete" he still couldn't read.

We know that IU has had some famous bombs on the Wonderlic Test. For those unfamiliar with Wonderlic, it was a 50 question multiple choice ABCD or E quiz, so if you just checked "C" for every question, in theory you'd get a 10. Tracy Porter, best know for intercepting Peyton Manning to win the Super Bowl for the Saints, got a 4. Star DE Greg Middleton of IU came through with a 6. The Wonderlic was "killed off" after Vince Young got a 6, then was allowed to take it again and got a 16, still a "caveman" caliber score. The year before that, da U had the lowest Wonderlic Scores as a team, led by Frank Gore's 6 and Roscoe Parrish' 10.

So we know that in the quest to win in college football, sometimes academics get "sacrificed."

Fast forward to 2026...

When asked if he attended class earlier in the week ahead of Monday night's title game, he laughed off the question.

"No class. I graduated two years ago," Beck said.

Beck, who attended Georgia before transferring, added that he is "working toward other degrees now that I’ve gotten to Miami, but these programs take a little longer than just a year to finish.

"Playing college football but not attending class for two years is crazy," said one more.

Beck doubled down on his commitment to the football program.

"I live in the facility. That’s about it. If I’m not at the facility, I’m at home, and I just kind of bounce back and forth."

How can you be a "student athlete" if you never go to class? LOL!!

There are "college football teams" and "pro football teams disguised as schools" in college football. Clearly, tonight, we get two of the latter category...

Um, so what?

These schools that make their money being football player factories know what they are doing.

Some are worse than others. Saban at least made his player go to class and pass.

Um, okay. good on Saban.

Doesn't take away from my point, though.

You see, it used to be that College Football had all the prestige, and "Professional" football was just there.

Now, professional football is where the money is, and if your player makes it to the NFL, that's a big boon to your college, and it doesn't matter if he knows when the Battle of Hastings was.

Many are staying in college football because they make more money doing so.

That includes Div II and III.
Just some quick math here

136 division 1 schools

105 man rosters

14280 football players across all 4 years

7 rounds x 32 teams x 4 years = 896

Even if every player drafted played at a division 1 school (they don’t) and every one of them made a roster (they most assuredly don’t) that would mean only 6% of college players go to the NFL. 2% is probably pretty accurate.

I think Billy the Hill McGill sued the University of Utah over his lack of an education
