If you guys need a continued lesson on tariffs I can continue to provide it.

As I said, there is no law that a tariff must be passed on to the consumer. Tariffs are applied for multiple reasons and purposes, Chapmans has decided to eat the tariff and you can now eat their ice cream at the same price, they just have to accept lower earnings.

“We are actively looking internationally for alternative suppliers of ingredients that are unavailable within Canada,” said Ashley Chapman, the manufacturer’s chief operating officer, in a recent Instagram post on the company’s page.

“As a proud Canadian-owned and operated company, we want to do our part to support Canadians. As a family we have decided to absorb all immediate increases in our costs due to the Trump-tariffs for the rest of the year to maintain our prices.”

Well played on their part. maintains their market share.

Exactly. They will become leaner, cut some fat, make a few decisions, maybe cut out some lower performing flavors, perhaps add 5% to the price in the future.

For now, keep market share, accept lower profits but maintain loyalty and they will be consumers for you in the future. Just this announcement will increase their share I'm sure.
