Do you know why there is a well used term in Canada referred to as "brain drain"?

Let me give you a couple of simple personal examples, rather than hard data. The valedictorian from my High School left for California and made a ton of money as a venture capitalist.
Multiple university grads left for the U.S and did well including some in the medical field.

I was given a task to try and succeed in a sales position to secure more funding going forward, split between two teams I expanded our team essentially on my own, the jobs shifted to us from the Dallas call center.

Imagine how many 10s of thousands of extra high performing Canadians could help the US economy rather than you allowing 10s of millions of low skilled workers entry?
