A Chinese national has been charged with acting as an illegal agent for Beijing when serving as the campaign manager for an unnamed local California politician.

A Chinese national was arrested Thursday on charges of acting as an illegal agent for Beijing when serving as the campaign manager for an unnamed politician elected to a city council in Southern California two years ago.
The arrest of Yaoning “Mike” Sun, 64, came at a time of rising concerns that the Chinese government has cultivated a network of operatives to influence local elections in the U.S. to install politicians who are friendly to Beijing and can help promote Chinese interests.

According to a complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Sun is accused of conspiring with Chen Jun, who was sentenced to 20 months last month for acting as an illegal agent of the Chinese government.

Chen, 71, also a Chinese national, pleaded guilty in July to using Chinese money to bribe federal agents to undermine the anti-Beijing spiritual group Falun Gong. The charge against Sun shows that Chen also conspired to interfere with local elections.

A federal magistrate judge moved to release a Chinese national accused of taking covert drone shots of a military base in central California on cashless bail. That same judge once held former Trump administration education secretary Betsy DeVos in contempt of court, fined her $100,000, and threatened to send her to jail.

Sallie Kim, a former Stanford administrator, issued the ruling on Tuesday, court filings show. She determined that Chinese national Yinpiao Zhou should walk free on his own personal recognizance as federal prosecutors pursue charges against him for flying a hacked drone over Vandenberg Space Force Base. Federal agents arrested Zhou as he attempted to board a China-bound flight in San Francisco.

The decision appears to have raised eyebrows at the Department of Justice, which is appealing Kim's order.

"Mr. Zhou made his initial appearance yesterday in U.S. District Court in San Francisco," a department spokesman told the Washington Free Beacon in a statement provided late Wednesday. "United States Magistrate Judge Sallie Kim ordered him released on personal recognizance. Our office is appealing that ruling. Zhou remains in federal custody."

The court declined to comment.​

It all begins with the CLINTONS and their ties to Chinese nationals Ng Lap Seng, Johnny Chung, and Charlie Yah-Lin Trie. It was the Clintons treasonous ties to the Chinese and their trading them national defense secrets for missile technology from Loral Corporation in the '90s that really drew me into the deep corruption in our national politics and the Clintons in particular. How these two are not serving life in jail is beyond me.

Today, there are chinese spies and agents throughout the country, throughout government, throughout industry, and most importantly, throughout our universities; we are literally training and teaching our enemies how to steal from and beat us. In many cases, the chinese literally just set up camp on our university campuses right where our best research is going on--- democrats, gotta love 'em--- we are all just one big happy family, right? They will be our buddies if we just bend over backwards to kiss their asses.
