Any sane organization wouldn’t have staged the attack to begin with. But given the absolute shredding of their forces from the attack going forward, something any less sane organization would have done probably 14 months ago.

One thing I’ve learned about extremeists is that they never hold their side to account; ever. Those still loyal to HAMAS over there will still remain loyal to HAMAS even though they could have saved tens of thousands of innocent lives and had done this same damn thing in August 2024.

What a waist. Geopolitically? Not sure if it changes the balance at all.

50 years from now, there still be suffering and strife regardless on where cartographers draw lines on a map.

"Its very hot and there is very little water"...thats all you need to know about the middle east. Hot and Water are each a stand in for any number of things; poverty, hunger, opportunity, humanity, hope.... It is and always will remain bizarre to me that these folks still fight over things that took places multiple generations prior to their birth. There is no way that fire continues to burn without some accelerant.

I hope it’s over permanently. However, I suspect that within a year Hamas will be back to its old tricks. I can’t see Hamas ever abiding by the terms of the deal once combat ceases.

Within a year? I don’t think so. I’m not sure Hamas would survive peace—just like khan Putin wouldn’t. A leading military geopolitical thinker, Edward Luttwak (a Jew and Zionist), advocated for peace a long time ago.

I don’t think it’s that easy. Baikal is the largest body of freshwater on the planet, and both the Han and the much weaker Moscow empire don’t want to share it. Both sides have adopted an all-or-nothing approach.
