My mid-70's neighbors took out a 30 year mortgage a few years ago to lower their payments by about $100.00. It was, financially, idiotic, but banks cannot discriminate based on age.I just assume in the next ten years I will probably be able to buy their house after the foreclosure sale once one of them croaks. It is gonna need a lot of TLC so will end up being a REO property.

I've seen folks in my AO list their homes and stipulate they would need to rent it after the sale till they found another place.

That used to be a non-starter but investment groups are happy to buy it and rent it out to them.
