Great piano player, and decent vocalist. You might remember him From Delaney and Bonnie, working with Clapton, and of course Derek and the Dominos. RIP

Bobby Whitlock, who co-founded the blues rock band Derek and the Dominos, has died. He was 77.

Whitlock’s manager, Carol Kaye, told TMZ he died Sunday morning at 1:20 AM “after a brief illness.” She told Variety that Whitlock had cancer.

The musician passed away at home in Texas while surrounded by his family, Kaye confirmed.

One of the greatest Albums of all time.

He and Clapton were the only two that didn't meet tragic ends, IIRC. I could be wrong. But I think the others all ended up badly. Of course, everything ends badly or it wouldn't end. I should have said -- Tragically.

Talent like was on Layla isn't worked for, it isn't earned. IMO, it is a gift from God. No matter how hard You or I try, no matter how many hours we put in practicing, working studying we will never be able to play the guitar like Duane Allman or Eric Clapton. Neither of whom could even Read Music!! It's a gift.

Just like no matter how hard I try or how hard I practice, I'll never be able to run the football like Saquan Barkley or Gayle Sayers.

We should enjoy these gifts from God for what they are while we can.
