I was just thinking about defending the home. What about a small ballistic shield you could use in your home, since home defense is hunkering down against bad guys in tight spaces? It wouldn't have to be big, just something you could quickly pick up and cover your body with in one hand, while you have your gun in the other hand. True, it would make shooting back less accurate, but it would keep your vital areas from getting hit? A shield would be quicker than say, putting on body armor in the middle of the night.....

Watching the video...this shield stopped 9mm, 44 mag from a rifle, .22 from a rifle, 5.56 from a rifle, 7.62 from a rifle....now the distances were farther than say a room or hallway in a house, but the odds of facing thugs with rifles is small....but against 9mm hand guns would be more likely.

Aside form the fact you have to take a hand off your gun...
You need to train with the shield, especially if it s steel (and thus, heavy). In particular, you need to make sure it is angled so any spatter goes away from you.
Might be more useful if you're static.

You should do it.

I thought putting your phone on speaker when you dial 911, setting up in a room facing the door, the choke point, and waiting to see if the criminal tries to enter your room.......

Holing up in a safer location while calling, if one cannot leave, is taught as a top strategy in this circumstance.

Not a bad idea. A kevlar vest might be a good investment. Mount it on an ironing board or something.

Meh , I have my level IV Body Armor Rig ( and a spare USGI level III A Rig , but if those shields are Level IV + I wiuld look into them

I kinda like this....
It's not a firearm but I think it's just as deadly.
And a kinda Kool self build thing.

How many times have gun nuts shielded their home from an invasion of gun welding nutters?

The real answer = ******* zero.

All this make believe mayhem goes on in their empty heads.

You're better off buying a good vest.
