I have a complete 58 topps if graded maybe a 6 and about 1200 common cards along with many HOF players from the mid 50's

year ago I sent some to deans cards roughly worth 3K, they offered me 900 max

I said nope and they sent them back to me for free but I am out 20 bucks for shipping

no way I am risking a complete 58 set for them to give me 1/3rd the value

so who else? anybody here have deal with a decent place that pays fair?

odd I can't find what they take for their grading/scanning and listing but ebay itself takes a good 15% of sales
most investigation is needed, always risky sending anything in the mail especially if it's worth 5K+ with no insurance
sucks I don't have a local place and not sure i want to drive 8 hours one way to find some shop that says, well they are nice but we are not really in the market right now

Ebay's fees are a ***** and you're gonna get a 1099-k from the IRS. But insurance is usually a small fee compared to the price you get, and it protects you and the buyer. Always look at completed auctions to see what the item generally sells for, then undercut everyone else.

If it was me I'd list them on eBay. That's where you will get top dollar and yeah, they are going to take appx 15% but that's not that bad. (an auction house is going to charge more than that).

Take good pics of the key cards. Mantle, Maris, Aaron, etc.

I have not sold anything on ebay in probably 6 years or more as they jacked up their fees, they ditched paypal for a debit card or your bank account and yes they sent your info to the IRS, try to make money from something and the f-ing government wants their cut

it was not bad but it's getting worse unless trumps steps in

so unless something changes this is the year to try and sell stuff off and not get the form

Yeah, that's why I quit selling shit on there. It was fun until Biden's "American Rescue Plan Act" tried to put a $600 cap on sales.

Hopefully they'll undo that BS.

I signed up for PSA but have yet to send them in for grading, graded cards go for 2x-4x more, their fee is not terrible as long as they don't get lost along the way.
10% was reasonable, 15% is getting a bit greedy

I have a few koufax cards in great shape from 56-58 and the usual HOF players of that era. My dad started collecting and it was handed down to me.

not the best picture, sharp corners, borders are 70/30 or better, no fade but the borders could have been better, back then when they cut the card stock they were usually off, it's rare to get a 90/10

Those cards as an 8 would bring over $2k each. I think the whole grading thing is kinda nuts but it is what it is.

they would but a good grading more likely maybe a 6.5, still good for maybe 1,500

that comc places wants a buck per card to list, damn
so I sell 1000 common cards at maybe 4 bucks each and they take 25%
