A federal district court judge in New Mexico dismissed trespassing charges against 98 illegal immigrants because they "didn't know" they were trespassing.

Even though there were signs all over the place in both English and Spanish.

Wow. What ever happened to ignorance of the law is no excuse?

Had these illegals not illegally invaded our country as they surely knew they were doing, they would not have been able to trespass anywhere.

Good way to encourage more illegal immigration.

Next up:
  • Letting off speeders because they didn't know there was a speed limit.
  • Letting off rioters because they did not recognize bad behavior.
  • Forgiving cop-beaters because they only thought they were defending their need to steal from Walmart...

The border is a big and very lonely place. Perhaps law enforcement should be called less often.

Judge confuses didn’t know with didn’t care

They already can’t stop cars with headlights out on federal highways. It’s a well hidden “deescalation policy”

Nothing ignorant about the ruling. This case was dismissed because these immigrants were on land that had been recently determined to be under US military occupation. They didn't know that. The problem is the unconstitutional order that created the situation in the first place.

In essence making it someone else’s problem because they don’t understand the language
Pure lib 101

Maybe they have a right to rely on illiteracy (in any language) which translates into a perpetual problem of prior notice.

I wonder whatever happened to the legal truism that “ignorance of the law is no excuse?”

The judge’s ruling is idiotic.

I was always taught that ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Signs were posted.

If you run through a red light that was just installed in an intersection, trying using the "i wasn't there before" argument and see how far that gets you.
