Not exactly , it was a mixture. There were periods of time when new portions were being settled but the east coast cities, long ago became places of immigration and not frontier settling. The Western States retained the settler spirit for a far longer time than the East IMO.

Anyways it might just be semantics. Settlers were just a different type of immigrant. many things were going on.

Not exactly , it was a mixture. There were periods of time when new portions were being settled but the east coast cities, long ago became places of immigration and not frontier settling. The Western States retained the settler spirit for a far longer time than the East IMO.

Anyways it might just be semantics. Settlers were just a different type of immigrant. many things were going on.

The definition of immigrant is basically an entity emigrating from one place to another. The word does not describe the STATUS of an immigrant in the new place.

The real point here is that when you accept immigrants, you should accept them into your country because they want to adopt YOUR values and way of life, ADD to the nation, not simply move here, take up space and bring THEIR values and way of life (a piece of their own country) with them sponging off of you. Exactly. We hear Democrats talk about immigrants bringing their 'culture' which is another word for invading. We have an AMERICAN culture that includes different ethnic groups that are NOT considered cultures.
