As a student of history, I am disturbed by the number of wars that have been started because of the personalities of world leaders and the poor communications between them. As wars have become increasingly deadly (e.g., WW1 and WW2), the ultimate extension of this trend could be the extinction of human life on our planet.

AI could become a fail-safe tool for preventing such a catastrophe. Unlike the secret "doomsday machine" in Dr. Strangelove, AI would be able to notify all parties of current events and predictive consequences on a real time basis. Further it could be empowered to prevent actions that contain unacceptable risks to humanity, such as the launch sequences for nuclear weapons.

I don't know how many more wars it will take to arrive at this solution, but hopefully it will occur before the final one.

The genie’s out, and there’s no putting it back — all we can do is hope for the best like jwoodie is doing.

My experiences with examples of AI, tell me that it is fake intelligence.
Try "talking" with AI "Help" features, they have very limited vocabulary and intelligence.
Furthermore, all the wars since Taft & Wilson have been created by the super-rich, who "only want to own the bullets and bandages".....and collect tons of interest off the debts, plus a nice cut of whatever loot shows up, and eliminate populations they hate.
