1. "The job of the newspaper is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."
The famous quote is about a hundred years old and can be traced to the work of Finley Peter Dunne, one of the great journalists of the day, who wrote about politics and culture in the voice and persona of an Irishman named "Mr. Dooley."
2. No longer. Today we have 'investigative journalists' who won't investigate.
3. The result is the re-election of a failure who is allowed to get a good night's sleep...so that he can make political appearances and speeches the next day while American diplomats are slaughtered in Benghazi.
4. The 'press' is there to copy down and present as fact whatever this fraudulent administration tells them to....and to support the re-election of the "Do Not Disturb" President.
5. Here a more accurate description of the press:
amanuensis: a person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another; secretary.
6. Here, the curtain pulled back by Senator McCain:
JOHN MCCAIN SNAPS AT DAVID GREGORY OVER BENGHAZI: ‘DO YOU CARE WHETHER OR NOT FOUR AMERICANS DIED?
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) asked an armor piercing question in the midst of some contentious crosstalk on today’s edition of “Meet the Press.” After being asked by host David Gregory what the scandal in Benghazi would be “if the worst thing were true,” McCain said he didn’t know the answer to that question, but wanted answers to other open inquiries anyway.
“We have had a massive cover-up on the part of the administration…” McCain began, before Gregory started pushing back in response.
“A massive cover up of what?” Gregory asked. “Susan Rice said there was a lot of confusion…”
Before Gregory could finish his question, McCain snapped, “Do you care, David? Do you care, David? I’m asking you, do you care whether four Americans died? The reasons for that? And shouldn’t people be held accountable for the fact that four Americans died, including a very dear man?”
“A cover-up of what?” Gregory persisted.
“Of the information concerning the deaths of four brave Americans,” McCain said.
