The assassination of Charlie Kirk one of the nation's leading advocates for right wing social, economic and public policy views has caused many people to rightly publicly proclaim that this taking of this man's life goes against American values; as a people we hold dear that political violence is never an option, one brings about social change through exercise of free speech, organization of public advocacy groups and the use of the ballot box! I think the American people would benefit from asking themselves why are we seeing this deterioration of our Democracy reflected in acts like the murder of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, the murder of Israeli embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim and the arson of the Pennsylvania Governor's mansion while Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were inside. I think part of the reason is that America has moved away from God we have become less of a virtuous nation, personally people of faith know that if you want God to provide grace to you to help you in your life you have to walk the path he wants you to walk, we forget that as a nation to our great detriment!
People of faith know that if God has blessed one abundantly he expects you to share some of those blessings with others it is often said that the more you bless others the more blessings you will receive from God. This reality applies to nations and a direct corollary of this reality is if a nation rolls back its blessings of other people its charitable giving to needy nations God will rollback his giving of grace to that nation. America with the Trump administration has rolled back foreign humanitarian aid, dramatically cutting the funding of USAID programs and closing that agency and rolling those programs into the State Department's jurisdiction what patently bad public policy giving work that should be "apolitical" to a Department whose principle job is to advance a political foreign agenda! This administration has reduced foreign aid by $8 billion in the Recission Act signed this past July and by $5 billion in the pocket recission (refusal to spend) made clear by the administration last month. These cuts will lead to millions of deaths of people throughout the world these projections are made by reputable sources; organizations like the Oxfam group and the Lancet Group and leading individuals that have hands on experience with this humanitarian work like Bill Gates and Samantha Power! Not only a moral obligation to God should get our nation to restore the funding for these programs but our moral obligation to the worlds population you know America has about five percent of the world's population but we use a significantly higher portion of the worlds carbon and non-carbon natural resources like oil and natural gas and rare earth minerals. Allowing millions of people to die from AIDS, malaria and other readily preventable diseases because of ten to fifteen billion dollars a year for a country like America that has a yearly budget of around three trillion dollars is something Americans should really be ashamed over!
Another glaring fault of America is the proliferation of gambling across America, this writer is a guy in his sixties and for the vast majority of this writers life Americans could only gamble in Nevada (Las Vegas) and in Atlantic City, New Jersey and there was no sports game wagering. Now Casinos can be found scattered across the nation and any America can bet on a sports game with their cell phone. The number of Americans that have lost their savings, retirement nest eggs and are loaded with debt because of gambling is shocking; as a people we are now choosing to economically benefit off the disease (gambling addiction) and the manipulation of our fellow citizens. As a people we are acting like low lifes, people of extremely bad character; do we not see that all people are God's children these gambling addicts and people tricked that they can get rich through gambling are God's children and he sees the taking advantage of these people by our nation and he will punish us over this abuse by withholding the grace our country needs to succeed! As a people we should try to mitigate this evil of gambling; so we should ban by Federal law the gambling on credit (if you don't have the cash on your person or in your bank account you have nothing to gamble with) and stop the advertising of all gambling of all types across the nation (if Las Vegas casinos want to advertise great restaurants and luxury accommodations fine but no showing of things like the casino floor). If a person wants to gamble they can use the internet to find a location to gamble but society needs to stop encouraging it and thereby stop dramatically hurting their neighbors lives!
