I've watched the first two episodes and my only complaint is that they are too short!

We loved "Vikings" before it went insanely woke and ruined the show. Like clockwork, once they did that - the show collapsed in viewership.
Then came "The Last Kingdom" - which was a strong show done right. They ended the series in 5 seasons and that was the plan all along.
Vikings Vahala, I am not interested in. As soon as I saw the casting - not for me. It is a bit hard to watch a Vikings series that cast black/hispanic actors as Vikings. As well as a prominent use of ass kicking female warriors - even more absurd.
I'll give this a watch - we both like this period.
It can be done right, as I have said before - take "Aliens" - several kickass females and they were awesome. The problem with this period throwing in female warriors, is combat in this era is incredibly physical and heavily-heavily depends on strength and endurance. A 110lb female is not going to beat down a 230 lb. male, it just isn't believable. So you either have to force that out of your mind to go along, or sit there and roll your eyes all the time.If it's a fantasy series, nothing wrong with ass kicking female warriors.
It just has to be done right. In Game of Thrones both Brianne of Tarth and Arya Stark were done right.

Also, Breanne of Tarth was a massive female. Easily 30% larger than most women. The actor is 6'3" and weighs 174 lbs. To prepare for the role, she gained approx. 10 lbs. and underwent intense physical training to build muscle mass. My gripe is when they use small/thin girls to beat up men literally twice their size, It looks stupid.
Looks like the love interest of the tall knight is gonna be a tall black woman.
Meh, I'm OK with it but they do seem to work a black in by using traveling actors in a white people world in a lot of period shows these days.
Oh c'mon, the scene where she beats Breanne sparring is pretty ridiculous. And doesn't just beat her, but does so effortlessly. It is reminiscent of the absurdity of Rey Vs. Sidious - which born an entire genre of memes making fun of it.Arya Stark shows how a smaller woman can do it, dexterity over strength.
Also, once Dragons are in a show I can suspend belief enough to be OK with Amazonian women.

I am not even close to being alone on this.
I think they were gone by the timeline of the show. Don't know what happened to them. Must have Runn Oft lookin' for answers or something.![]()
Maybe that's where they sailed off to.
It is about believability.Sparring with someone who didn't want to hurt her.
Again, once you add dragons to something, I give a show far more leverage in other areas.
It is about believability.
Why not dress Darth Vader in a pink outfit? Why not? It is fiction, so why dress him dark/menacing?
To make the story believable. It is fun to suspend reality, it is not so fun when a show does things - like injecting 110lb skinny models that can beat Mike Tyson in his prime.
I'd take a Shield Maiden with an axe over Mike in his prime. It is about believability.

I just want to know if there is anything that compares to Barbarians. So bummed it ended after only two seasons, we never got to see what happened to Arminius, and after the second season ended they clearly were prepared to continue. Like most series like these, they cost a lot of money to produce. I want to see another like this one real bad. Hollywood produces some awful woke bullshit that has no historical accuracy.
The last good historical series/miniseries I saw was Chernobyl, and even that took some liberties/shortcuts with the true story.
