WHO is getting that $2.6 Billion now?Your assumption that personnel cuts are the driving factor in the budget decrease is what is wrong .....
... eliminate 3,200 EPA employees, or 19 percent of the current workforce.
..;. eliminate some $100 million in spending on research and international programs on combating climate change.
... cut some $427 million to regional pollution cleanup programs, including in the Great Lakes and Chesapeake Bay.
... Funding for the Superfund program to clean up the nation's most contaminated sites would drop by $330 million to $762 million.
... the rationale is to give local and state governments - often facing severe budget constraints themselves - responsibility for such clean-up efforts.
... cut the budget for the EPA's enforcement division, which fines companies for pollution, by 31 percent. It would axe dozens of other programs including the popular Energy Star appliance efficiency program aimed at reducing U.S. energy consumption.

Well they (and other bureaucracies) helped chase millions of jobs out of this country. Was that well worth it?
Years ago the EPA said our air standards didn't meet "their" expectation. So they forced our state into E-Check. Ten years later, they measured the quality of our air again, and no difference. So what did they do? They forced us to keep the stupid program.
Lord knows how many millions of dollars we wasted to accomplish nothing. That money could have went to much better places.
Creating problems that aren't there is called job security. And if we ever met their stupid level of satisfaction of air or water, they would just draw a new line in the sand costing us even more. This is exactly what Democrats have done with the CAFE standards, and DumBama did it once again while he was in office.

What are you talking about ? The Air, water, and ground quality in the us is way better since the EPA was created .
Think of just the last 40 years . Smog used to blanket cities , our rivers and bays weren't safe for swimming , you couldn't eat the fish .
Ironic . The EPA has done such a good job cleaning things, we forget how bad pollution can get .

Why? At least the EPA helps Americans .
A few years ago my opinion would have been dramatically different regarding the EPA cuts. Today I think it is poetic justice. I have no sympathy for the Agency after it stiffed those who filed damage claims due to the EPA project which dumped toxic wastewater into a tributary of the Animas River.

A contracted company did that.
The EPA is not perfect , but to throw the baby out wh the bath water is stupid .
