92yr old Retired Air Force Veteran and McDonnell Douglas employee shot three times in his own yard while cleaning up fallen leaves in North St Louis County. Happened in broad daylight 11am on a Wednesday. No information on suspects. I’m sure all the kids were in school at the time.

Even in your own yard, you are a target and need to be armed.

Disgusting. This country is going to shit. We need a purge.

Are you saying that if he was armed this wouldn't have happened?

How did you determine that?

He would have dodged those bullets, whipped out his piece, and started blasting.

That's pretty dumb. Are you saying that had he been armed, his chances of surviving wouldn't have increased?

If that's true, why would citizens, police and military even need firearms. Maybe they should just throw them all away, right?

As far as we know, no.

No, why? None of my business what people want to do there.

As far as you know? Are you even aware of how many people use a firearm to protect themselves every year?

Look it up.

I never said they didn't. You can address what I said or change the subject. I suspect the latter.

What you said was an assumption that had he been armed, you know that he wouldn't have had a chance to defend himself.

Don't play stupid little word games with me, ok?

According to various studies, Americans use firearms in self-defense between 500,000 and 3 million times per year, with some estimates suggesting around 1.6 million defensive gun uses annually in the United States.

Key points about this data:
  • Range of estimates:
The wide range in numbers is due to different methodologies used in studies and the difficulty in accurately tracking defensive gun use.

    • Sources:
The Heritage Foundation and the CDC often cite these figures, referencing studies that include both the display or threat of a firearm as a defensive use, not just actual firing.

What you said was an assumption that had he been armed, you know that he wouldn't have had a chance to defend himself.

I said that there is no indication it would have made any difference.

So what are you going to do when you're beaten, robbed, and raped? Just lay down and say "I have no indication that protecting myself would make any difference"?

Do you even read the things you post?

Sure, it's about me. And irrelevant at that. A claim was made, I countered that claim. On came the strawmen.

Gawd, you're such a weasel and a contradictarian.

What strawman? :dunno:

It's better to be armed than defenseless.

The claim was it would make a difference here.

Even in your own yard, you are a target and need to be armed.

We have no idea if it would have or not.
