Esquire has a piece:

“Falling Man,” by Tom Junod, is not only a profoundly moving story about September 11, 2001, but also it’s one of the greatest pieces of magazine journalism ever written. On this, the twenty-fourth anniversary of the tragedy, I encourage you to set aside time to read it.

What is interesting to me is the misinformation surrounding the photograph we call "Falling Man" - I was very interested in the realism of the images and of the very real people who were at the site and who immediately volunteered to help (especially interesting was the Arab-American man who helped bring some construction lighting to the site)

I did a video for a Cable Access station on a photography tour that went around the US., which now: Faces of Ground Zero

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City features a permanent exhibition of large, life-size photographs titled
"Faces of Ground Zero: Photographs by Joe McNally". These powerful portraits capture the first responders, survivors, and family members affected by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks
.

Wikipedia page: The man fell from the south side of the North Tower's west face. Thus, the left half of the backdrop features the North Tower while the South Tower is visible on the right. The photograph gives the impression that the man is falling straight down; however, a series of photographs taken of his fall shows him to be tumbling through the air.

note:

The family of Jonathan Briley believed he was the "Falling Man" in the iconic 9/11 photograph. Briley was a 43-year-old sound engineer who worked at Windows on the World atop the World Trade Center and suffered from asthma, making it likely he was trapped by smoke. His brother, Timothy, and the restaurant's executive chef, Michael Lomonaco, initially identified him based on the photo's details, including the man's build and an orange t-shirt that matched one Briley often wore. Briley's remains were recovered the day after the attacks

"His name was Norberto Hernandez. He lived in Queens. Cheney took the enhanced print of the Richard Drew photograph to the family, in particular to Norberto Hernandez's brother Tino and sister Milagros. They said yes, that was Norberto."

Many believe suicide leads to unequivocal damnation, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the choice.

Cheney’s investigation led him to Hernandez’s religious wife and three daughters, all of whom aggressively dismissed his claims and refused to cooperate. “That piece of shit is not my father,” said Jacqueline Hernandez when Cheney presented her with Drew’s photograph at Norberto’s funeral. Cheney went on to publish a story positing Norberto, with verification from his mother, as the jumper in Drew’s image.

This wasn't suicide, it was murder. The 0.00% chance of surviving by staying in a fire in a building about to collapse vs. the 0.00000001% chance of somehow surviving the fall.

The people like you (religious) were/are speaking to the man's choice, his actions not to the cause

read what it is you are responding to before you just kneejerk post some inanity

I am a lapsed Catholic at best. What I am not is some Atheist dipshit who mocks people of faith.

He had no choice.

Tell that to his oh so faithful religious daughter.

As I said before "read what it is you are responding to before you just kneejerk post some inanity"

please do not hijack a thread on 9/11

I am responding to your question.

I am giving you my position on the matter.

That man was going to die that day, and God knew it. Falling Man had a choice to make, and there were only 2 available options, burning or gravity. He didn't commit suicide. He merely chose one death over the other. And I bet he had a conversation with God, before he fell.

A photo of a single person while hundreds of office workers who came to work on a normal pretty day in September were faced with the option of being consumed in fire or jumping to their deaths.

That was a terrible day, i remember it well because i was off work that day so saw the whole thing live on TV, i couldn't believe what i was watching, as for that poor man falling i couldn't even contemplate jumping off the building, but then again who knows how we would react.

15th post
Lots of people jumped rather than burn to death. I recall a photo of a man and a woman holding hands as they fell to their deaths.
