3rd Senate Democrat to retire, New Hampshire Democrat Sen. Shaheen announces retirement, says won't seek 2026 reelection

Interesting that all these Dems are running for the hills.

Usually they stay in office until death.

Is DOJ onto their grfit?

Libs might not like it, but they really should be looking to work together with President Trump in a Bipartisan way instead of fighting the will of the people. This is their opportunity to show they have finally grown up.

The mid terms could be rough for the Dems.

Pubs have 53-47 balance of power currently.
Republicans already had a leg up in the midterm senate races. A shutdown will help that even more. It's funny to watch the dems following the marching orders of the progressives. When will they ever learn?

You are 100% correct, and it is not going to happen.

I assumed Democrats would be a lot older, but....

Pew Research Center on January 16, 2025 published:

Overall, the median age of House Democrats is 57.6, while the median age of House Republicans is 57.5.

In the Senate, the median age of all Democrats is 66.0, a bit higher than the median for Republicans (64.5).

Coming into the 119th Congress at 91 years old, Senator Chuck Grassley is the oldest and longest-serving member of the Senate. He is the longest-serving Republican in Congressional history. Grassley, who hails from Iowa, was first elected in 1980 and has been reelected seven times.

Age and generation in the 119th Congress: Somewhat younger, with fewer Boomers and more Gen Xers

I think this is what they mean when they refer to rats jumping from as sinking ship.
