Teens are using social media to create mass meetups in malls and retail areas. This never ends well and creates stress and disruption for shoppers and businesses.

Given that these mass meetups are dependent on social media, law enforcement has the technology to monitor these meetup posts on social media and preemptively deploy units on site of the scheduled meetup (eg shopping mall) to prevent it from happening.

Terrorist chat rooms and social media have been monitored for years. Whether the latest monitoring or intelligence gathering capabilities are AI driven is not a concern.

Massive youth brawls and flash mobs are bad for communities. Preemptive strikes utilizing the same technology and platforms that the perpetrators are using to prevent these events is good to protect everyone; including the youths themselves.

It is just an expansion of "Gang " size ,inevitably resulting from Social Platforms being a new factor .

An expansion of Family> Street>> School> Neighbourhood to Town or even greater .

If that is then manipulated and directed, things can become exponentially worse .
Of course it will be used by some to entrain groups to anti social behaviour .

It is one price of the luxury of having Free Speech .

If you make a bomb you are almost guaranteed that some idiot will set it off .
Arguing that it was necessary as a deterrent .

Humans are hilarious and dangerous .
imho

Damn....I thought malls were dying! We likely don't have 300 people in our mall at one time, EVER!

That's a shame that the out of towners spoiled it for them....it's not often kids actually interact, face to face, without a phone or computer...seems like that meet up could have been good for them.

If the outcomes were smiling merchants abd energized fellow shoppers, then this would be encouraged nationwide. Instead, these are fertile events for flash mobs and brawls.

This is a trend and something law enforcement throughout the nation need to be mindful. Here was a similar event just down the street from the Pentagon.

Good to see teenagers getting out more.

Do you seriously enjoy seeing teenagers act like that? I don’t. I’m sure the shoppers and the merchants don’t.

Good to see teenagers using social media to organize in-person social events to get out of mom's basement. What happens at them---well teenagers will be teenagers.

I hope one of these type of teen gatherings takes place at a shopping establishment in your community, soon.

Nobody goes to our mall. It is like a ghost-town. There is a rumor half of it is going to be turned into housing with the hope it reinvigorates the remaining half of it.

Perhaps you could show a little empathy for shopping establishments around the country that are experiencing these flash mobs. A shopping establishment - be it a mall, a drugstore or a convenience store, is no place for mass meetups for age groups of any kind.

More importantly, preemptive action by law enforcement actually provides the opportunity for the teens to avoid violence and getting into trouble with the law.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic here or not, but if causing public disturbances is the only thing on their minds, they can just stay the heck home.

God bless you always!!!

Driving teenagers out of public spaces will leave them even more mal-adjusted than they already are. I mean the thought of being able to chain them to a tree like a dog seems appealing, but we shouldn't ever actually do it. Curfews and bans have failed to make them better socialized. Who could have imagined a benefit having an actual cost?

Philly Cheese Steak musta run outa ketchup.
