I picked this one up yesterday morning in unfired condition at a local pawn shop for $500.00.
It's a "youth model" but the LOP is the same as an SKS so I was tickled. Very handy with it's 16.50" barrel and shorter stock.
I installed a Redfield 1-4 X 25 on it myself....At 10" it's all the scope I need and nothing I don't.
The date code puts it at being made in 2012....It's a "Remlin" (a Marlin made by Remington) so I was sort of wary due to QC concerns I've read about over the years but I know what they normally sell for so I knew I'd not get hurt on it.
I checked it out at the shop and could not find anything wrong with it functionally but with all new purchases I did a complete disassembly, lube, and in this case a polish where needed when I got it home.
I found a lot of factory "grit" in the magazine tube and on it's spring, all clean now.
I also thought the bolt was not polished enough so I did a minor amount of polishing to where it slicked-up the action nicely.
I can see where folks not all that handy with working on guns (it took me a good hour to get it up to snuff) might have issues with the Remlin Marlins if this is a common example of Remington's Marlin builds.
