Do you have a reference for that statistic? I was unable to locate any stats that broke down gun ownership by rural vs urban. Are the "guns" that are owned by rural persons hand guns?
All of you seem to be missing the obvious answer. Democratic areas tend to be occupied by people on the lower end of the economic scale. Violent crime is driven by poverty to a large extent.
I have no idea what that was supposed to mean. If you apply Washington's quote to the Heller decision, the logical conclusion is that the Supreme Court usurped the Constitution by changing the meaning of the second amendment that had been used for 200+ years.
I understand the Bill of Rights much better than you do. That is obvious. Your refusal to answer a very simple question and to try and divert the discussion elsewhere indicates that you have no intention of participating in a rational discussion.
You asked what the purpose of the second...
The purpose of the second amendment was to prevent the federal government from banning state militias. It was the product of a discussion about the rights of the states versus the rights of the federal government and the states rights contingent wanted to make sure that the states had the...
I can't discern your position on the essential question based on all that. Do you actually believe that there should be no restrictions at all on private ownership of weapons?
No court has ever interpreted the second amendment as guaranteeing the right of a citizen to own any weapon they choose. Anyone who doesn't understand the sheer insanity of such an interpretation is themselves insane and certainly should not be allowed to own a weapon of any sort.
You are not considering the possibility that the people who build the software could be compromised and deliver a build of software that could record something other than the voter's intention. This would look to any check like "proper software". It would be difficult but I do not think that...
I don't think that the level of examination they are doing in the recounts would identify tampering that was done by any really sophisticated actor. If such an entity was going to alter the results, they would do it with modified software either on the local machines or the accumulator...
My impression is that there are several plausible ways for the election to be hacked.
First, they can change the programming of each machine to record a certain percentage of the vote differently than the voter's intent. This would require access to the machines and a number of different...
Some of the ways they described to hack it didn't even involve connection to the internet. They did, however, require either direct access to the machines themselves or to the code that runs the machines.
The answer, according to the article posted below seems to be an emphatic YES! It describes a number of actual hacks done by academic researchers as well as other methods that could be used by individuals or organizations to alter the votes cast during an election. There does not seem to be a...
We long ago reached a point in this country where the actual needs of most of the population of the country could be satisfied by the work of a very few. Since that point we've become a luxury oriented society where advertising is used to convince people that they "need" a wide variety of...
This article describes the recent history of voting machines in the U.S. and gives several examples of how easy they are to hack:
