Well, to escape religious persecution and economic uncertainty. But you know, vacation works too.

Oh, I'm sorry, being secular is un-American. I think I know what kind of person I'm talking to now.

Morals have existed before the ten commandments. Morals exist without the ten commandments even today all over the world. The ten commandments are your belief, not a code of law. I know that morals are required to maintain a society. But they aren't always based on superstitions.

Mind my own business? I'm sorry, I'm not going to sit back and watch my country become overcome with religious unreason. I don't care what people do in their own home, it's what they bring into the public sphere is what I'm talking about here. Just have to spell things out for some people I guess.

And you think I would have left any of those out why?

It is absurd to use the word "REASON" to describe Atheism.

Oh fantastic, you have a list. Quite an impressive one at that. Tell me, of what use is religious superstition in the advancement of our understanding of the universe? Other than an easy go-to answer when we give up searching.

Reason. Logic. Scientific rigor. You know, useful things like that.

No, that's not true at all. But thanks for taking the time to respond. Our founding fathers found the value in not giving our minds wholly to the superstitions of religion.

Reason from the evidence? That's rich. Saying that God did it is just too easy. How pathetic.

Anti-Islam teachings 'widespread' in US law enforcement

As an American, I do not feel any ill will towards Muslims. In fact, most Muslims are very peaceful and agreeable. The problem I have is with Muslims who believe that they know the word of God. They believe that dying for religion is acceptable. But that is not most Muslims, so I won't judge...

    Anatomical impossibility

I suppose you have a point there. It's easy to believe absurdities when you can allow yourself to be Christian.

Without "original sin" all of Christianity collapses

You seem confused. I'm talking about guilt. Whatever form that takes. All religions reel people in with it. Original sin is just another iteration of it.

It is absurd to use the word "REASON" to describe Atheism.

The thing of it is, the idea that God is behind all of it is very unfounded. It can't be proved. If it can't be proved, it can't be disproved. We have no need to disprove the superstitious beliefs on how the life, earth and the universe came to be. They are fairy tales to keep frail minds occupied.

Without "original sin" all of Christianity collapses

Can you tell me what religion doesn't?

I have to agree with this. As aggressive as it sounds, the sentiment is very true.
