Independent means I am not conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican and think that those terms and political party commitments weaken our country and make those who buy into those labels and party affiliations less apt to educate and think critically in what and why the hold the beliefs that they do and how they vote and who they support. I believe that the only success possible for our nation's future lies somewhere in between the two extreme party lines and though unlikely is the only true answer to the economic and social challenges our nation faces. While some may view my position as spineless and weak, it allows me the perspective to see the good and bad in both sides and avoid the blindness that comes from commitment to a party and platform.
