    Those who complain the most about alleged constitutional violations seem to know the least about the Constitution. Whenever I hear ''Where in the Constitution does it say..'', I know it is coming from someone who could not pass a high school civics test.

    The Democratic Party before 1968 stood for the same policies as the Republican Party after 1968 ---- states' rights and limited government. The solid blue South revolted against civil rights legislation and became solid red states. The OP takes a glib view of American history.

    I believe that was how income taxes were imposed before the 16th amendment. Federal government and many essential programs, including defense, would be impaired.
