    Silk Road

Ed, first, please stop butchering the English language as if you were a latin from a banana republic. "Maybe putting a port is a very very local project. Let the locals pay for it and charge according to its use. That way it has to be cheaper than other ports to be worth while. If the central...

    Silk Road

Well , the situation in this side of the world is a bit different Ed. In any case, Trump promised to rebuild the US infrastructure, ( bridges, electric grid , ports). That would be a good start. But China's plans go well beyond their own territory, and in that part is where I have my qualms...

    Silk Road

For starters , it probably means they will put some use to their excess reserves. Second, it will give chinese construction companies something to do that isn't building huge phantom cities. Finally this will probably establish China as the main trade hub in the world ... while the US embraces...

    Advances in Artificial Intelligence

Ok , I think we shoul disregard the first two numbers as the number is inflated because of slavery, which is fair to say is labour below market price. So 55%, that's still nothing close to the 98% you claimed.

    1) At no point of modern history agriculture has accounted for 98% of the jobs. 40% is probably closer. 2) What do you think happened to mexican farmers when agricultural industrialization forced them out of the job? ... I'll be waiting for your answer.

I tend to look at the employment level rather than looking at the unemployment level. Yea, things are looking better, but I would really feel better if they reached the pre-crisis levels. Civilian Employment-Population Ratio

What percent of GDP should be devoted to a universal minimum income

The idea of a minimum income comes from rather conservative schools of economic : the chicago school (e.g. Milton Friedman) and the Austrian School ( Hayek ). Their point is that the government is not good at managing programs and the best way to provide a safety net is through a direct...

What percent of GDP should be devoted to a universal minimum income

Encourage them to work ... what exactly do you think happened in the rust belt ? Is it full of lazy people ? Are Mexicans doing all the work for pennies ? Well , no exactly. After the crisis industrial production recovered, but jobs didn't ( see chart) . I assume those 3 million workers have...

    Advances in Artificial Intelligence

Yes, it is just the cost: it still needs to be trainned, tested and mass produced. And the trainning only takes place once, so right now the only entry barriers are the testing and mass production stages. Tessla cars are still very expensive, but Elon Musk has tipped the possibility that they...

What percent of GDP should be devoted to a universal minimum income

Well , nice way of thinking. Regardless, that doesn't mean UMI will automatically "lead you death int 36 months". So far I have not taken any money ,from any government program, but I am not really sure if I am going to be able to say the same 25 years into the future.
