Farming in Australia by a Nebraska Farmer

They must've missed the "ice ages". :) Also, in 1812 when Napoleon's army was retreating from Russia, 30,000 of his horses died, many froze to death. Not a V8 Ford truck in sight.

Indeed. They all need to be wearing hats not caps, to protect their faces and ears from the sun. Sunglasses also, to protect their eyes from UV rays....and glaucoma etc.

Farming in Australia by a Nebraska Farmer

Ah yes, rural Australia, a generally tough life. Rural Australia farming, even tougher. Not for this 'city boy', ...too hot, too dusty, too far from beaches, too far from well-paying, air conditioned 'office' jobs. 'Boiling hot' in summer, 'freezing cold' in winter [not as cold and...

What an amazing young man -- 13 year old Super Hero

What to learn from this family's experience [which could easily have had a tragic ending.] . Oceans are not still lakes. . It's unwise to go swimming, paddling with kayaks and boards in the sea at un-patrolled beaches. There's no one to save you, unlike at patrolled beaches where lifeguards...

Some were. America served as a major penal colony for Britain, with an estimated 50,000 to 120,000 convicts transported to the American colonies between the early 1600s and 1776, particularly following the Transportation Act of 1717. Convicts were sold as indentured laborers, mainly in Maryland...

The British in those days were cruel. Look at the atrocities they committed in the American.War of Independence etc. Look at how little you had to do to be convicted and transported in prison ships to Australia.

lol "The cruel sea" is a global thing. Fun at the beach can turn into a nightmare in the blink of an eye. Gotta be very careful around the sea. Penal colony? Britain's penal colony was America, then there was that war...and it had to find somewhere else to send its convicts. 1788 the First Fleet...

The Australian government has often proclaimed ‘our diversity is our strength’. Is it true?

They can't all go to America. The whole of Africa, Asia, Middle East, Mexico, South America can't just move to America for a better life.

The Australian government has often proclaimed ‘our diversity is our strength’. Is it true?

You haven't been paying attention. Massive immigration into western nations, many people saying it's not the diversity as such that's the problem...it's the numbers, "millions when it should only be thousands".

Slaves? No. 'Oppressed', 'discriminated against', 'moved to the unemployment queue', 'low standard' housing or homelessness....certainly. No job, no income. No income, no money to pay a mortgage/rent or buy food "Daddy, are we poor now"? (a young child in a movie whose movie dad lost his good...

Western Europe is going to hell

All the fault of the people there. They were warned, advised, told...but refused to listen, same as people of the UK. They made their bed and in it they must now lie. Sad really. Oh well, as Ned Kelly said standing at the gallows: "Such is life".
